I am a beginner crocheter. On step 2-4 do I chain one at the end of the rows? Or skip the chain 1’s for those rows? Sorry that’s probably a dumb question. Thank you for the beautiful pattern, I am wanting to make my Mom one for Christmas.

Ha ha! I am having a laugh — at your confession to not wanting to use your new kitchen towel — in the kitchen! All my life, and/but more and more as an adult I find myself reluctant to use anything new. I have a box with FOUR DOZEN utility towels for the kitchen and all the dye and related chems to make them match the kit decor which they will be involved in remodelling. Haven’t brought myself to open the box! I’m hee because I like your thermal stitch pot holder pattern and WILL be using that because I need that quality there is nowhere to buy — that I can afford! Thanks for your patterns.

In reply to Kathleen M. Kempen. Hi Kathleen, that's easy! Instead of chaining 80, go with 40 or any even number for the width, Make sure you're happy with the width and adjust the number of chains. Then, simply follow the pattern as is but add more rows in the white section of the towel (rows 10-40). Try to make double (80 rows) and see if that's long enough or too long. Make sure to have an even number of rows again. After that you can continue with the coloured section at the end (from row 41) I hope this helps!
