The Frosty Days Hand Towel is my newest crochet pattern, and I just love how it turned out!

The rich texture and blue-and-white colours give it such a festive look, reminding me of frosty mornings and snowflakes gently falling down. I think it will look just perfect in my kitchen during the holiday season.
I can already picture using it on a slow winter morning while making a cup of coffee, or later in the day while baking something warm and sweet. I love surrounding myself with those little things that bring a smile to my face; they’re like an instant mood booster!

- HDC = hald double crochet
- HHDC = herringbone half double crochet
Stitch pattern used on the sides of the towel: Even Moss Stitch
Materials
- Yarn: Dishie, 1 skein in Swan and approx. 50yds/45m in Azure. You’ll need more yarn if making a bigger hand towel. Total yardage needed for this size: 240yds/ 220m.
- Alternatively, you can use any worsted-weight #4 cotton yarn in your favourite colours for this towel.
- Crochet hook, size 4.5 mm
- Scissors and a yarn needle for weaving in the ends.

Pattern Notes
- The towel is worked lengthwise, in rows.
- Chain 1 at the beginning of a row is a turning chain and does not count as a stitch.
- This towel is on the smaller size. If you’d like to make it larger, simply start with any even number of chains and add more rows to the middle section (the white hhdc part). Just keep in mind that a bigger towel will require more yarn.
- Colours: Blue (Azure) and White (Swan). I’ll refer to them simply as blue and white throughout the pattern.
- You’ll be switching between the white and blue colours every two rows, on both sides of the towel.
Instructions
With white, Ch 60 or any even number for the length of the towel.
Row 1: SC in second Ch and each Ch across the row. (59 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sl st in first St, HDC in next, keep alternating Sl Sts and HDC across the row. You’ll be ending with a Sl St in the last stitch.
Row 3: Repeat row 2. Join the blue colour at the end of row 3.
Rows 4-5: With blue, repeat row 2. Switch to white colour at the end of row 5.
Rows 6-7: With white, repeat row 2.
Rows 8-9: With blue, repeat row 2.
Rows 10-11: With white, repeat row 2.
Rows 12-13: With blue, repeat row 2. Cut the blue yarn at the end of row 13.
Row 14: With white, Ch 1, turn. HHDC in first St and every St across the row.
Rows 15-31 (or until you reach your desired width): repeat Row 14. Here you can add more rows if you’d like a wider towel, just be sure to end on an odd-numbered row, so the colour changes stay on the same side as before. This keeps both sides looking the same.

Rows 32-33: With blue, repeat row 2.
Rows 34-35: With white, repeat row 2.
Rows 36-37: With blue, repeat row 2.
Rows 38-39: With white, repeat row 2.
Rows 40-41: With blue, repeat row 2.
Rows 42-43: With white, repeat row 2.

Row 44: Ch 1, turn. SC in first St and every stitch across the row.
Row 45: Ch 1, turn. Sl st in first St and every stitch across the row.
Fasten off, weave in all ends!
