A crochet tea towel is such a simple way to add a cozy touch to your kitchen. It’s the little things like this that really make a house feel like home, bringing warmth and a personal feel to the space.
I loved making this one. It was so easy and relaxing to work on!

This pattern uses just single crochet and chain stitches, which makes it perfect if you’re looking for a beginner-friendly crochet kitchen towel. The stitch combination is called the Moss Stitch, and you might also hear it referred to as the Linen Stitch or Granite Stitch.

Crochet Tea Towel Free Pattern Instructions
Ch 56 (with MC) or any even number.
Row 1: SC in 4th Ch and across the row. (53 total).
Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. SC in second St, *Ch 1, sk 1 and work a SC in the next St (after the skipped stitch). Repeat from * across the row. Last St should be a SC. (27 SC in every row)
Change to CC in the middle of the last stitch.
Watch the short video demonstration on how to switch between the colours without having long strings of yarn on the side of your towel.
How to join a new colour and carry yarn up the side – Video Demonstration
Row 3 (with the CC): Ch 2, turn. Work a SC in the first chain-1-space between the stitches. *Ch 1 and work a SC in the next Ch-1-Sp. Repeat from * across the row. Last SC goes between the stitch and the turning Ch. (27 SC in every row)
Rows 4-your desired length: repeat row 3. Switch between MC and CC every 2 rows. All the colour changes are done on the same side of the towel.
When you reach your desired length, work the last two rows in the same colour as you started with (MC) and then continue working the last row (see instructions below) in the same colour.
Last row: SC in first and every St across the row.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Coasters (optional)
Make matching coasters by chaining 20 with the MC and following the same pattern as the tea towel. Make 18 rows, or when you have a square.

Thank you, Isabel! ๐
In search of a special gift for my grandsons wedding, they love the kitchen so a towel set sounds perfect. Although it took me much longer, it was an easy pattern to follow and videos always add extra support. I wanted to thank you for your beautiful tea towel.
